I was among the people who were shocked last summer when Sigma announced the 18-35 1.8 Lens. My immediate response was too sell 3 of my lenses. If the lens preformed well I knew the 18-35 mm 1.8 would make my 35mm 1.4, 17-55 2.8 and 18-55 kit lens obsolete and I took a gamble. Sure enough the lens has received glowing reviews and lived up to all expectations. When I had the opportunity to shoot the 2014 NAIAS for the oakland press. I left my L glass at home. The NAIAS Gallery is featured below.
Now Sigma is once again making waves by releasing a 50mm 1.4 Art Series Lens($950) that is being compared favorably to the $4000 Zeiss Otus Lens. Whether you are a Sigma fan or not, you at least have to commend them for their effort. Just one year ago, I thought sigma was just another value brand that produced cheaper versions of tried and true Canon glass. I hope Sigma keeps up the good work, and I also hope we get some new and exciting glass from Canon Soon.
